Anne Shirley (Barbara Hershey) now a successful, middle-aged writer has returned to Prince Edward Island. She agrees to write a pIay for a theatre producer in order to keep her busy - at Ieast busy enough to not go out of her mind worrying about her son who has yet to return from the war.
